As a founding partner of the RSP and supporter of Future of School, ChanceLight will enhance the RSP’s mission to ensure equitable access for all to flexible, high-quality schooling
Future of School (FoS) today announced that ChanceLight Education, a leading provider of education solutions for children and young adults, has joined as a founding partner in the Resilient Schools Project (RSP). The RSP, a partnership between FoS and the Digital Learning Collaborative (DLC), is an initiative to assist schools and districts with developing an ongoing response to instruction disruptions during the 2020-21 school year.
“Supporting equitable access to high-quality education for vulnerable populations of learners, including children with special needs, is among the key objectives of the Resilient Schools Project,” said Amy Valentine, CEO of Future of School. “With this in mind, Future of School, along with our partner the Digital Learning Collaborative, is excited to welcome ChanceLight as a founding partner to the Project. ChanceLight’s commitment to delivering solutions for students in need is in perfect alignment with our goals and objectives.”
ChanceLight serves more than 13,000 students each year at more than 100 locations across nearly 15 states. ChanceLight’s work is consistent with the Resilient Schools Project’s goals to help all students through the crisis schooling period and trauma caused by COVID-19, with an aim toward minimizing disruption and ensuring support.
“ChanceLight understands and values the critical importance of partnering with education organizations, districts and schools to ensure that every child has access to the resources they need for a high-quality schooling experience,” said Randy Asmo, ChanceLight Education CEO. “We’re proud to be a founding partner of the Resilient Schools Project and we look forward to contributing to the Project’s impact on enhancing educational equity nationwide.”
In addition to addressing vulnerable populations, both within the school community and at home, the RSP is helping school districts solve a number of other challenges. These include teacher training; messaging and communication to families and the media; supporting the needs of special populations, including English language learners; and determining what to do if students choose to learn from home after schools have reopened. Throughout the year-long Project, FoS is focused on broadcasting the impact that innovation has on transforming the teaching-learning process and forecasting what the days, months and years ahead hold for reimagining the K-12 education system.
“The rapid onset of the pandemic showed our country the gap that exists in terms of equal access to personalized learning for all children regardless of any barriers that stand in their way. However, the Resilient Schools Project is not only about addressing immediate instructional and technology needs in school districts―it is equally focused on predicting, determining and then creating the flexible and impactful education system of the future,” added Valentine. “We’ll work through urgent needs without losing sight of our long-term goals, including creating a future where access and equity are ensured, and maintaining a focus on students—the population that matters most in schools.”
The RSP currently has 10 member districts who are engaging in a facilitated professional collaborative network. Throughout the year, the Project will work with these districts to find, share, and/or create guidance on key issues and best practices.
